“I’m Not The Girl I Used To Be”
"I'm Not The Girl I Used To Be" is an ongoing series of paintings by Lee Stanton, inspired by drawings her daughter Sophie made when she was five years old. Layering childlike innocence with deeper psychological undercurrents, Stanton modifies, edits, and reinterprets her daughter's original marker drawings to construct a personal narrative exploring themes of identity, individuality, and having and discovering one's voice. Figures wearing crowns embody emblems of triumph, honor, and self-worth, while the figures featuring antlers symbolize themes of regeneration, transformation, and growth.
